Murukonda Dhanush Kumar, known as Dhanush. Born on August 18, 2000, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Dhanush comes from a family with deep roots in cinema, education, and philanthropy. His parents, Dr. Raghunath Babu and Hemalaya Kumari, and his lineage from the esteemed philanthropist and educationalist Murukonda Keshava Rao, and the legendary film director Dr. Dasari Narayana Rao, have profoundly influenced his path.
Growing up in a family known for its significant contributions to society, Dhanush was shaped by the values of hard work, dedication, and a commitment to giving back. His grandfather, Dr. Dasari Narayana Rao, directed over 151 films across multiple languages and was a towering figure in Indian cinema. His grandmother, Dasari Padma, was not only a social worker but also founded the Udayam newspaper, adding to the family's legacy of service and impact.
On his paternal side, Dhanush's grandfather, Murukonda Keshava Rao, was a revered educationalist who made it his mission to improve access to education in Andhra Pradesh. He established an educational institution in Inkollu, dedicated to helping those who needed financial support to pursue their studies. Dhanush completed his early education at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavans Public School in Hyderabad, later moving to P. Obul Reddy Public School for his higher secondary education.
