His unparalleled work ethic and passion for cinema led him to direct more than 151 feature films, covering a wide spectrum of genres and narratives, thus earning him a place in the Limca Book of Records for directing the most number of films.
Beyond his directorial achievements, Dasari Narayana Rao Garu’s influence extended to the production of 53 films and his pivotal role as a dialogue writer in over 250 films, cementing his status as a creative powerhouse in Indian cinema. His storytelling and directorial prowess earned him numerous accolades, including two prestigious National Film Awards, nine Nandi Awards, and four Filmfare Awards South, including the Lifetime Achievement Award. On the occasion of his 64th birthday, Mr. Dasari Garu launched the Needa Dasari Charitable Trust, a significant step in his lifelong commitment to social service. Understanding the challenges faced by those from humble beginnings, as he himself hailed from a poor family, Dasari Garu established this trust to provide financial assistance to students in need. At the launch, 32 students were awarded scholarships, marking the beginning of a legacy of educational support for the underprivileged.
Dasari Narayana Rao Garu often shared that his life story was a testament to the belief that anyone could rise in life without external support, driven by hard work and determination. After achieving financial stability, he chose to sponsor merit scholarships for poor students, continuing this philanthropic effort for many years. Through the Needa Dasari Charitable Trust, he also expressed his desire to extend help to farmers, demonstrating his deep commitment to uplifting various segments of society.
